These benefits include withstanding severe critical hotness and the draining of dietary iron.

To maintain your enamel coated cast iron cookware, what are the procedures that needs to be done? Here are the step-by-step instructions how to season your cookware before using it for the first time.

  • Preheat to 300F your oven. Then, put aluminum foil at the bottom of the oven to guard it from oil spills.
  • You need to wash thoroughly your cast iron cookware, if it is new. Cleanse it with warm water and soap, and then scratch it to take away rust coatings.
  • After that, dry the cast iron cookware carefully.
  • The cookware should be coated inside and out with bacon grease.
  • For about sixty minutes, put the pan and the lid on the upper portion of your oven.
  • Repeat the procedures from one to five times for best results.

    Le Creuset Cookware
Posted in Le Creuset on 14 January 2010

Le Creuset Cookware is created from enameled cast iron which has been in use since the middle ages. The factory that produces these fine cookware products is located in Fresnoy Le Grand in the North of France. 1952 saw the beginning of production for cast iron cookware by Le Creuset. The cast iron which is used in the cookware is made through hand casting molten cast iron in various sand molds, one of the most delicate stages of the production. Even today, in more modern times, after every casting the mold is completely destroyed and the cookware produced is then polished by hand. After which, it is scrutinized further for any imperfections. After passing the check, they are then sprayed with double layers of enamel coating and then fired after each coating.  The firing process, at 800 degrees Celsius, makes the enamel durable and hard creating a coating which protects the pan from damage.

Le Creuset Cookware is also very energy efficient. Because of the use of cast iron which is among the most energy efficient materials you will find. Basically, after the pan becomes hot enough, you can turn the heat to a lower level and yet maintain the cooking temperature needed to cook your food. In fact, for some recipes and food types, you can completely turn the stove off and the pan would still continuously cook your food. It is also very hygienic and is completely impervious to all sorts of acids or chemicals that the food might release during cooking. Besides being perfect for cooking it can also hold cuts of meat for marinating. You can also use it to store foods, whether they are raw or not, in the freezer. Which most pans can’t do.
